Huddersfield Town defender Matty Pearson has returned to the starting lineup with a point to prove after being sidelined for the early part of the season.

“If I had my way, I think I’d knock on his (Duff’s) door every day if I wasn’t playing. But you’ve got to pick and fight your moments… I’ve tried to force my way back without actually having to speak to him,” Pearson told reporters.
The Yorkshireman, affectionately nicknamed ‘Mr Angry’ by teammates for his serious demeanor on the field, has earned the respect of head coach Michael Duff, who praised Pearson’s character and hard-working attitude.

Pearson marked his return to league action with a goal in Huddersfield’s 2-1 loss to Reading on September 28, and his performances have continued to impress. Duff, a former centre-half himself, sees similarities between Pearson’s playing style and his own.
“He’s a walking example of what I talk about. Hard work pays you back,” Duff commented. “He didn’t sulk, he just got on with his work, and now he’s back in the team. His character is his best attribute.”
As Huddersfield navigates a challenging period in League One, Pearson’s leadership and determination will be vital as they aim to consolidate their position in the top six.
