Leeds United look set to loan their young striker Luca Thomas out to National League outfit York City, according to Football Insider.
Thomas is a 20-year-old forward who has been in fine form for United’s Under-21 side in the Premier League 2, smashing six goals in just five appearances this term.
After showing his eye for goal in the second team, Leeds now wants to send their young player out on loan to gain some valuable first-team experience. He is yet to be given a chance in the senior side at Elland Road after signing professionally in 2022.
A new deal was signed in the summer and he now looks set to head to the high-flying Minstermen. Despite the transfer window being closed, teams in non-league are still able to complete deals.
York has started the National League season in a positive vein of form, losing just once and sitting third behind Barnet and Forest Green Rovers. Despite the encouraging start, Adam Hinshelwood’s men are the joint lowest scorers in the top seven, scoring 19 times in their 13 games.
City’s top scorer is veteran frontman Lenell John-Lewis with five and it looks as if the manager is looking to add a goal-getter in the shape of Thomas.
The Minstermen have been busy in the transfer market already, adding the likes of Ricky Aguiar from Swindon Town and Joe Felix and Ollie Pearce from the manager’s former club Worthing.
Following the 2-1 friendly defeat to Sheffield United in July, York manager Hinshelwood spoke exclusively to The Real EFL about hopes of adding to his squad. It now appears that Luca Thomas will be another new addition as the club looks to continue their improvement on last season’s disappointment.

This move would be a fantastic opportunity for Thomas to be in and around a first-team environment. His form in the Premier League 2 has been fantastic and his natural next step is senior action.
York is riding high at present and will provide an excellent environment for the young striker to learn his trade.
The National League is such a tough and relentless division, it will be a huge challenge for the 20-year-old and one that will stand him in good stead for his future career.
