Hull City have opened talks to sign Brazilian-born Italy striker Joao Pedro, according to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu on X.
The 32-year-old has recently been released by Turkish giants Fenerbahce and is said to be in talks for a return to football at the MKM Stadium. With Hull owner Acun Ilicali also on the board at the Istanbul side, a deal may be easier to reach given the relationship between club and player.

The Tigers are looking for some more firepower at the top end of the pitch, with several outgoings leaving them thin in attacking areas. Loanees Liam Delap and Noah Ohio both left the club at the end of last season, with Billy Sharp and Aaron Connolly also departing on free transfers, as well as Oscar Estupinan being sold.
The East Yorkshire outfit have made moves to strengthen up front, but these have had little effect thus far. The likes of Chris Bedia and Mason Burstow have been disappointing, leading Hull’s hierarchy to look for more reinforcements. It’s hoped that if he signs, Pedro will add some much-needed experience to a side that badly needs it at the moment.
Pedro has one cap for Italy despite being born in Brazil, having spent most of his career in the Italian leagues. He is perhaps best known for his spell at Sardinian club Cagliari, where he made 271 appearances and scored 86 times in an eight-year spell. More recently, he has been in Turkey with Fenerbahce, but now finds himself without a club.
Hull’s season so far has been underwhelming to say the least, and something needs to change for Tim Walter’s side. They have scored just twice in the league and find themselves winless in the relegation zone, so a striker with pedigree may be the move they need to make to improve.

Hull’s start to the season has been dire, and they have struggled badly in front of goal. A striker is needed to change this, and Joao Pedro may be the answer, but this feels like a gamble taken as a result of their owner’s connections. With the transfer window shout, the free market is the only option, which limits choices and potentially success. It’s hard to be optimistic over Hull with their tactics and they may need to change fundamentally rather than just personnel, but Pedro is worth a punt.
