Scott Lindsey has remained coy around rumours linking him to the now-vacant MK Dons post as his Crawley Town side prepare for their next League One game.
The Red Devils boss is a favoured contender to take over a side he condemned to a record defeat in the League Two play-off semi-final, beating the Buckinghamshire club 8-1 on aggregate. A win at Wembley over Crewe Alexandra sent Town to the third division, and have fared well in the early stages of the campaign.
His side prepare to face league leaders Wrexham this weekend, but a level of uncertainty around his future at Crawley has heightened amidst the departure of Mike Williamson to Carlisle United. The Cumbrians paid a fee of around £200,000 to take the former Newcastle United defender to Brunton Park, with the deal announced this morning.
Speaking to the press ahead of their game against The Red Dragons, Lindsey commented on the links to Milton Keynes. He said (Quotes via Sussex World): “My full focus is here. Whilst you’re getting linked to jobs, I think that proves that you’re doing something right.
“So it’s always a positive in many ways. But my full focus is here until I’m told otherwise, but I think it is a really good job for somebody but until I’m told otherwise, my focus is on this football club.”
The managerial merry-go-round was instigated by Carlisle after they relieved Paul Simpson of his duties after a poor start to the season compounded by the woes of their previous campaign in League One. Williamson takes over the side in 22nd place as they prepare to take on Swindon Town.
Dons meanwhile are in a similarly poor position, with pressure mounting on the former Gateshead man before his switch to United. They sit in 20th place after a busy summer and new ownership in place. Commenting on Williamson’s situation at Stadium MK this season, Lindsey added: “I don’t know what Mike’s position was before he decided to leave, that’s up to him. I know the results weren’t great or as positive as they wanted them to be, but that can quickly change around, can’t it?
“It’s a long season, there’s nearly 50-odd games in a campaign with the cup games and everything, so I’m sure he would have turned it around eventually because he’s got good players there.
