Plymouth Argyle have reportedly struck an agreement, with Odense BK, for Rami Al Hajj. With time against them, The Pilgrims will need to hurry proceedings along.
Wayne Rooney’s Championship side have been very busy on the transfer front in this summer window; they can now expect another fresh entry into their squad, this time from the Superligaen.
Tipsbladet has supposedly confirmed that Al Hajj will fly to England today, to be unveiled as a new signing for the second tier outfit. A medical can be expected well before the closure of the window at 11pm tonight.
The 22-year-old midfielder is set to be the subject of a £840,000 agreement between the two sides and Rooney will be keen to get the deal over the line, considering the recent reports that Michael Baidoo is ‘very unlikely’ to join the club.
Having played 77 games for Dutch side, SC Heerenveen, Al Hajj has only found himself featuring for his new club on 32 occasions. The former Sweden youth international joined the Danish side in June 2023. Moreover, this season Al Hajj is yet to feature for Odense and this could likely be a deciding factor in his move to England.
Plymouth have confirmed eight new signings so far this summer, with notable inclusions of Ibrahim Cissoko and Michael Obafemi. With Al Hajj very likely to be announced today, an impressive nine arrivals will make for very good squad depth in the Championship.
The reports from Sweden have suggested that the 22-year-old had made his decision to depart a while ago. This was when Al Hajj had started to notice that there would be no involvement for him in the Danish League this season. Reporter Rasmus Glud had this to say on the midfielder’s transfer situation:
“It should be a formality as things stand now.
“From the moment it became clear that OB would not play him in the Superliga, the Swede began to look for opportunities elsewhere. Al Hajj has not once been in Søren Krogh’s squad since July 2.”

This unrest and lack of communication with the player is no way to treat a valuable squad member. Perhaps a move to Plymouth would be extremely beneficial for the bright midfielder to showcase his talents on a higher-viewed platform.
Rooney’s side would massively benefit from someone as creative as the Swede. His profile of constantly creating chances for teammates will hugely boost the attacking threat of the Pilgirms; this is something the Championship club need to improve on if they want to survive this season.
