Huddersfield Town striker Kyle Hudlin has joined Newport County on loan, as reported by The Yorkshire Post.
The giant striker has found game time hard to come by at the John Smith’s Stadium, making only 10 appearances since joining the club in 2022.
Hudlin spent a brief spell on loan at Burton Albion last season, failing to score across his five outings. The move to Wales is his third temporary move away from the Terriers, having represented AFC Wimbledon during the 2022-23 campaign.
During his time at Plough Lane, the 24-year-old appeared 18 times in all competitions and found the net on four occasions.
He came to the attention of Town after scoring 15 goals across two seasons for National League side Solihull Moors. The striker signed a new deal under then-manager Neil Warnock and is under contract with the League One outfit until the summer of 2026.
Newport County have made a positive start to their season under new manager Nelson Jardim, sitting in fifth spot having won two of their opening three matches.
The Exiles are the top scorers in the division, smashing eight already before adding Hudlin to their front line. County lost key attackers Will Evans and Omar Bogle to Mansfield Town and Crewe Alexandra this summer and Hudlin becomes the fourth striker recruited during the window. Jardim has already signed Bobby Kamwa, Hamzad Kargbo and Courtney Baker-Richardson.
At 6ft 9ins, the latest arrival brings a different threat to Newport’s attack as they look to continue their positive start to the season.

This is an interesting move for Newport after they have started the season so well in front of goal as Hudlin can hardly be called a prolific scorer.
For the striker, this is an important move. Having not received a squad number this season after Huddersfield’s relegation, his chances of breaking through with the Terriers appear slim.
If he can get consistent minutes and impress in Wales then it might be the lift his Football League career needs.
