Swansea City Eyeing Up Premier League Midfielder

Swansea City have been linked with a move for Brentford’s Myles Peart-Harris after losing two of their attacking midfielders this summer.

Luke Williams’ side have seen both Liam Walsh and Jamie Paterson depart South Wales over the past two weeks, heading to Luton Town and Charlotte FC respectively. 26-year-old Walsh has already debuted for the Hatters, appearing as a second-half substitute against Preston North End and Queens Park Rangers.

According to the BBC, The Swans have settled on former Forest Green Rovers midfielder Peart-Harris as their replacement, pursuing a loan deal for the Brentford player. He is yet to play for The Bees this season, being an unused substitute against Crystal Palace before missing the squad entirely at Liverpool.

The 21-year-old made five appearances for Thomas Frank’s side in the first half of last season, before being loaned out to Portsmouth. Making 12 appearances and scoring twice at Fratton Park made him a League One winner with Pompey.

A former Chelsea academy prospect, Peart-Harris was recruited by their West London rivals for an undisclosed fee in 2021, signing a four-year deal but has failed to get consistent first-team appearances, instead being loaned out to Gloucestershire with FGR and later John Mousinho’s side.

Swansea have already recruited in attacking midfield this window, with Eom Ji-Sung joining existing option Oliver Cooper at the club. The Korean has been used on the left with the former Newport County loanee operating through the middle.

The Isleworth-born midfielder is not the only player targetted by Luke Williams before the window shuts this week. DC United goalkeeper Tyler Miller is also being pursued on loan following a groin injury to Andy Fisher.

Myles Peart-Harris will likely struggle to get game time following the introduction of former Hull City winger Fabio Carvalho to the squad at Brentford. A move to the Championship will be the highest level he can reach consistent game time and Swansea City under Luke Williams look an exciting prospect. It has been three years since the last time the Welsh side reached the Championship play-offs and whilst they will have a battle on their hands, it is possible.

The midfielder can play both through the middle and out on the left wing, providing extra depth for both Oliver Cooper and Eom Ji-Sung. Williams could also opt to use him further back to compliment Matt Grimes as a more attacking number eight. Peart-Harris would revel in a chance to prove himself and give Thomas Frank food for thought with a successful spell at The Swans.
