Burnley Star Heading For Premier League Exit

According to Birmingham World, Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers are in advanced talks to sign Burnley winger Luca Koleosho.

The 19-year-old moved to England last summer, joining Burnley from Spanish side Espanyol for £2.6 million. Despite Burnley being relegated, Koleosho impressed in the top flight, scoring once and assisting the same number in 15 Premier League appearances. The Italy Under-21 international is already a goalscorer in this Championship campaign, scoring against Cardiff City, in a 5-0 home win.

The winger was absent for the Claret’s most recent game, however, Burnley kept the rumours at bay revealing the 19-year-old had only missed out because of a slight knock, and that he was still in attendance for the game at the Stadium of Light.

As expected, Burnley have experienced mass turnover since relegation. Former Vincent Kompany left for the Bayern Munich job, and countless players have departed for pastures new. These include the likes of Sander Berge, Wilson Odobert, Arijanet Muric and Anass Zaroury, four players who have departed to play top-flight football once again. New manager Scott Parker has had a busy start on the transfer front, with nine new players walking through the door at Turf Moor, with more expected before the transfer window closes next Friday.

Despite this, the Clarets have had a relatively strong start, beating Luton Town and the aforementioned Cardiff, before experiencing their first defeat on the road to Sunderland. Goals have not been hard to come by for Parker’s side so far, with nine goals scored in three matches so far. Despite not scoring and ultimately failing to win against Sunderland, Burnley will remain confident that they can still be contenders at the top of the table by the end of the season.

Premier League outfit Wolves need a winger, as the departure of Pedro Neto to Chelsea has left a massive hole in Wolves’ side. Gary O’Neil’s side are also in need of a centre-back to replace Max Kilman and are aiming to have both in before the window shuts. They have had a tough start to their Premier League campaign, losing against Arsenal, with Chelsea as their next opponents.

Despite the quality of the players they have brought in, Parker is having to deal with key players leaving left, right and centre, and he won’t want to lose another one in Koleosho. It is no coincidence that the one game he has missed Burnley have struggled. Whilst the Clarets have brought in a few new attacking recruits, they will need time to settle in, some to just the club itself, some to England and the Championship in general.

For Wolves, despite his lacklustre goal contribution numbers, Koleosho impressed many with his technical style last season. It is no secret that O’Neil is desperate for more bodies in through the door, as it has been a tough window for the Birmingham-based outfit. They have lost two key players, including their captain, and have only been able to bring in four players. Wolves need more additions if they want to avoid the drop this season, so bringing in a player like Koleosho may prove to be a smart move.
