Seven Clubs In Fight For Sheffield Wednesday Attacker

Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri will depart the club on loan this month, with seven clubs vying for his signature, according to The Star.

The 19-year-old is highly rated at Hillsborough and did play a bit-part role under Danny Rohl last season. He broke into the team in November, scoring three times throughout December. This led to him penning fresh terms, signing a contract until 2028.

The Owls completed the permanent signing of Ike Ugbo earlier this week. As a result, it is said that the Yorkshire-based club are keen to send the youngster out on a temporary stint in order to gain regular first team minutes. This has alerted the attention of a host of clubs, with four from League One and three from the Scottish Premiership all said to be keen.

Those north of the border are said to include Dundee United, Hibernian and Motherwell, but they face stiff competition from England’s third tier. It is claimed that Blackpool, Lincoln City and Stockport County are hoping to strike a deal for the England under-20 international, whilst Wrexham had already been previously linked.

On top of that, it is also said that there are several other unnamed clubs across the EFL also expressing an interest.

It will now be down to the player and his club to decide which option would be the best for his development. The report states that Rohl is eager to pick the best club for Cadamarteri and the one that will give him the biggest opportunity to feature on a regular basis.

It goes to show just how highly regarded the teenager is that there are clubs lining up for his signature. League One would be fantastic for his development, especially with this season expected to be more competitive than ever.

This is a huge boost for Sheffield Wednesday, who can now take their pick. They will want to get this right and will be doing their due diligence on the potential suitors. Lincoln may be an attractive option due to just how well Joe Taylor flourished last season. The likes of Wrexham and Blackpool already have a goal scorer in Paul Mullin and Jordan Rhodes, whereas the Imps are still looking to replace the goals they will lose from the Luton Town attacker.

With so many options available, this one could drag out for a week or two.
