Burnley Boss Looking To Temporarily Offload Talented Winger

As Scott Parker gets to work organising his new Burnley squad, ahead of a likely promotion push, one man is being linked with a move away this summer.

The Lancashire side will undoubtedly be looking to refreshen their squad ahead of a crucial Championship season. Under Vincent Kompany, the Clarets made 18 fresh signings before and during their 2023/24 Premier League campaign; it looks like Parker is in need of a summer clear out.

Having joined Burnley in August 2022 from VfB Stuttgart, 24-year-old Darko Churlinov is the latest player to be linked with a summer exit. However, this deal looks like it will only be a temporary switch, with reports of Jagiellonia’s interest emerging through Tomasz Włodarczyk.

The Macedonian winger has featured a mere 13 times for Parker’s side, which will likely be a key reason for this opportunity for further development. Ten appearances for Schalke in a temporary spell, between January and June 2024, was Churlinov’s contribution to professional football last season.

The agreement between the Polish and English sides has reportedly progressed, and the young winger himself is apparently keen on the move. With the article stating that the process is in advanced talks, Churlinov could soon be announced as the Ekstraklasa side’s latest signing.

Without a nailed down place in the Burnley line-up, the 24-year-old could join up with last season’s Polish League champions. This also means there is an opportunity for Churlinov to move to a talented side with a guarantee of at least UEFA Conference League football next season. Furthermore, this appeal could yet be upgraded to a Champions League spot, granted Jagiellonia progress past Bodø/Glimt in their two-legged tie, kicking off this Wednesday, and their eventually opponents in the final qualifying round.

Churlinov simply hasn’t been given a stage to shine consistently. A lack of goals will always nullify confidence, but in order to develop, game time needs to be the priority. If this necessity can’t be given by Parker this season, then a move to a well-established Polish team, vying for European and domestic success, could be the perfect move.

There is clearly hidden talent that the former Stuttgart winger holds, but he hasn’t been able to display it regularly enough yet. Hopefully, if this switch materialises, a successful loan spell will lead to either a quality permanent departure or a second chance with Burnley.
