Leeds United Announcement Due Tomorrow

Crysencio Summerville’s switch from Leeds United to West Ham United will likely be announced tomorrow, according to journalist Graham Smyth.

The winger’s departure from Elland Road has long been expected. He had been linked to an array of Premier League clubs throughout the last few months as his scintillating form caught the eye of a number of potential suitors.

Despite hitting 21 goals in all competitions last season, Summerville became hot property as soon as Leeds’ failure to secure promotion from the Championship was confirmed. Having missed out on a top two finish, they were forced to navigate the play-offs, where they fell at the final hurdle with a heartbreaking defeat against Southampton at Wembley Stadium.

Daniel Farke knows he has a big task on his hands this season. They begin the new campaign as the favourite to win the second tier, although what squad the German has to play with is still somewhat of an unknown entity.

Starlet Archie Gray has already departed for pastures new, completing a £40 million move to Tottenham Hotspur last month. The Whites are now set to inherit another £25 million, with Fabrizio Romano confirming the initial fee will also include a series of add-ons.

Although Summerville’s switch to the capital was confirmed as a done deal by Romano two days ago, an official announcement has yet to surface. It was initially believed that may come today, although Smyth now states that it could be tomorrow.

Leeds kick off their season in just over a weeks time, although much of their summer business is yet to be concluded. They have so far brought in just four players, one of which is a backup goalkeeper. Joe Rodon has returned to the club following last season’s successful loan spell whilst the addition of Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United is a shrewd one. Bournemouth’s Joe Rothwell completes the quartet on loan.

Although Summerville’s exit has long been expected, there is still no doubt that this is a substantial blow. For the second year running, Daniel Farke looks as if he will start the campaign with much of his summer business still to be concluded. This arguably cost them promotion last season, where they won just three of their opening nine matches.

There is also still a huge question mark on the future of Wilfried Gnonto and the Whites cannot afford to let this continue to drag out until the end of the month. They have a relatively tough start, with games against Portsmouth, West Bromwich Albion, and Sheffield Wednesday before the transfer window shuts. They need bodies in their attack, and they need them quickly.
