Details Of Latest Sheffield United Transfer Emerge

Sheffield United‘s loan transfer of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ki-Jana Hoever will not include an option to buy, according to The Star.

It emerged earlier this week that the 22-year-old was set to move to Bramall Lane on a temporary deal. The Blades are on the lookout for a new right-back after Jayden Bogle made the switch to Championship rivals Leeds United last month.

Hoever joined Wolves from Liverpool in 2020 for a fee believed to be around £9 million. However, he has made just 20 top flight appearances for the Premier League club.

The former Netherlands under-21 international joined Stoke City on loan for the second half of the 2022/23 campaign. Having impressed during his brief spell at the bet365 Stadium, he once again linked up with the Potters last season.

The defender’s form towards the back end of the season played a big role in helping the Staffordshire-based side avoid relegation. He picked up three goals and three assists in the final eight games, helping the club secure a 17th-placed finish.

This has seen him attract the attention of Sheffield United, who drop back into the Championship after suffering relegation from the Premier League last season. Although Hoever has played a role in Wolves’ pre-season campaign, another temporary switch appears to be on the cards.

Football Insider have claimed that he has now completed his medical and the move will be finalised later today. The Star state this will be a season-long loan, but he will return to Molinuex next summer.

The Dutchman has two years remaining on his current deal and is still desperate to play in the Premier League.

Furthermore, the report says that manager Chris Wilder will immediately turn his attention to other signings after completing the Hoever deal. The 56-year-old is still targeting a central defender, midfielder and an attacker before the end of the transfer window.

Writer’s View

Hoever is an accomplished player at Championship level. It is no surprise to see Sheffield United target the right-back, especially after the impact he had at Stoke last season.

Chris Wilder will be delighted to have gotten this deal over the line. Losing Bogle to a team that is expected to be a direct promotion rival was a bitter blow, but they have replaced him with a player who has the ability to pick up where his predecessor left off. The Blades are still light in other areas, but this is a huge weight off their shoulders.
