Leeds United Star Mentioned In Talks Amid £21 Million Deal

Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville has garnered interest from clubs in the Premier League and abroad and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the transfer saga.

There is a strong likelihood that the Dutch winger will level Elland Road this summer after increased interest in his services. Top-flight sides such as Liverpool and Chelsea have been keeping tabs on his situation in West Yorkshire, while it was revealed that Brighton and Hove Albion had entered talks with the Championship outfit over a possible £30 million deal.

Nevertheless, Summerville has remained on the books with pre-season set to commence very soon, although it’s certainly unlikely that he will still be at Leeds United by the time the transfer window closes at the end of August after recording 31 goal contributions in 49 appearances in the previous campaign.

Another footballing giant that has been touted with the 22-year-old is French champions Paris Saint-Germain. World-renowned journalist Romano has admitted that these rumours have emerged after Summerville’s name came up in PSG’s talks with Lutsharel Geertruida, who could be making a £21 million switch to the Parc Des Princes from Feyenoord.

Writing in his Daily Briefing, Romano disclosed that both Geertruida and his compatriot Summerville share the same agent [quotes via Football League World]:

Leeds United Handed Boost In Race For £2.5 Million-Rated International

“There has been an interesting story coming out about PSG being interested in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

“I’ve spoken before about the expectation being for Summerville to leave Leeds after they couldn’t win promotion back to the Premier League, and I’ve also reported on Summerville to Brighton being discussed, so what about these new links with PSG?

“My understanding is that the situation is: Summerville shares the same agents as Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida.

“PSG are in talks with Geertruida on personal terms, so Summerville was mentioned during talks but there’s still no negotiation ongoing between the clubs or the player’s agents.

“It’s an open race with Brighton and more clubs interested.”

With Kylian Mbappe already confirmed as a Real Madrid player, PSG will be looking to bolster their forward line over the summer. While Summerville may certainly not be able to fill the boots of the French captain, he could be a solid acquisition for the European giants and for a solid price too.

However, Summerville still has two years remaining on his contract with Leeds United, meaning the second-tier side should not be in a rush to offload him this summer, although the club’s outstanding credit debt may have something to say on the matter.
