EFL newcomers Bromley are gearing up to life in the big leagues and have secured the services of a familiar face at Hayes Lane when they announced that Lewis Leigh had signed a permanent deal.
Making the transition out of the National League has been relatively straightforward for clubs in recent years, you only need to look at how well Wrexham and Stockport County have fared. Bromley though will come into the new League Two season with far less fanfare. What they lack there though will be made up for in fighting spirit.
The capture of Lewis will make the fans happy. His impressive showing last season while on loan from Championship Preston North End made him very popular in the early part of last season.
After being recalled, he then went on loan again, this time to Crewe Alexandra, so he knows the way League Two football is played.

The 20-year-old helped Alex all the way to the play-off final, where he made an appearance off the bench in the eventual loss to Crawley Town.
Despite his young age, he has gained some notable achievements. Apart from the playoff final he gained first-team honours at Preston with a Carabao Cup showing against Huddersfield Town, and a Championship debut back in April 2022.
The length of Leigh’s contract at Bromley has not been disclosed, and a significant sell-on clause has been added to his contract, such is the confidence the Deepdale club have had in him during his time with the club.

Bromley will want to hit the ground running and having key components such as Lewis Leigh will no doubt help that cause. His boundless energy has impressed many, and his no nonsense approach to the game is also aided by his passing accuracy. Having had experience for half a season at this level will definitely help Leigh, and will be another part of the reason why Andy Woodman moved in to snap up the midfielder.
