Queens Park Rangers Keen To Sign £1.7 Million-Rated Top-Flight Star

Queens Park Rangers are keen to bolster their midfield department this summer and are weighing up a move for a player in the top-flight of French football, according to the latest reports.

French outlet L’Equipe are reporting that QPR are keeping tabs on Nordine Kandil’s situation at Strasbourg and have registered “notable interest” in the 22-year-old. The playmaker has entered into the final 12 months of his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit and looks to be weighing up his options ahead of the summer transfer window.

Furthermore, L’Equipe are claiming that the West London side face competition for Kandil’s signature, with recently relegated Ligue 2 club Clermont Foot also eyeing up the Strasbourg academy product and could make an offer for him over the coming months. The Franco-Moroccan currently boasts a market value of between £1-1.7 million, as per FootballTransfers.

Kandil spent the entire 2023/24 campaign on loan at Annecy in France’s second tier where he left a lasting impression, scoring four goals and recording eight assists in 38 appearances for the club. As a result, Kandil has garnered interest from teams like Queens Park Rangers and Clermont Foot.

The middle of the park seems to be an area that head coach Marti Cifuentes is keen to strengthen in the summer. The Championship side have also been linked with re-signing Isaac Hayden after the Newcastle United man had a successful six-month loan spell at Loftus Road. Chronicle Live reported last month that the Magpies were looking to offload him on a permanent basis, meaning QPR could acquire the 29-year-old on a permanent basis.

Queens Park Rangers Tipped To Lose Key Man This Summer

Writer’s View

Queens Park Rangers were the fourth-lowest scoring team in the Championship this season. Only Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall bagged fewer goals. One of the reasons for this was, of course, the lack of a prolific centre-forward, but also an inadequacy of creativity in the team.

Ilias Chair recorded the most assists with eight in total, but the second-highest was merely four. Having a player like Kandil in the starting lineup could be massively beneficial to help his compatriot, even if the midfielder may be a little pricey.
