Queens Park Rangers Announce Departure Of Impressive Coach

The Head of Coaching Development at Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, Manisha Tailor, has announced her departure from the London club after taking up a role with Tottenham Hotspur.

Tailor has been with QPR for eight years, becoming the club’s Assistant Head of Coaching to former technical director and manager Chris Ramsey back in 2021 which made her the first woman and person of South Asian heritage to hold this position in English football.

However, upon Ramsey’s departure earlier this year, Tailor was eventually handed the role of Head of Coaching Development at Queens Park Rangers. In an old interview, Tailor cited Ramsey as one of the biggest influences in her career so far [quotes via Training Ground Guru]:

“If it wasn’t for his firm but fair, no-nonsense approach, guidance and mentoring, I wouldn’t be where I am now.”

Furthermore, Tailor’s services to football in an overwhelmingly male-dominated sport were recognised in 2017 when she was anointed as a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her assistance to the beautiful game and diversity in sport.

Unfortunately, Tailor’s time with the London outfit will now come to an end. She is set to take up the position of International Development Coach with Premier League club Spurs. Speaking about her departure from the Hoops, Tailor admitted her gratitude to the club for aiding her personal and coaching journey [quotes via Training Ground Guru]:

“I have had a memorable journey and will always be grateful for the wonderful opportunities that have been presented to me to aid my personal and professional development,” she said.

“Former Head of Coaching and Technical Director Chris Ramsey took me under his wing as a volunteer in 2016. The allyship and transformational leadership, coupled with the endeavour to work hard and self-improve, has aided me to develop greater flexibility and resilience, resulting in the trajectory that I have had in my career at QPR.

“I want to put on record my gratitude to all the staff, players and parents for their support and wish the club all the very best for the future.”

Writer’s View

Queens Park Rangers have struggled to recover from a string of dreadful decisions made 10 years ago when the club were last in the Premier League. However, Manisha’s story proves just how right the club have gotten it in other areas regarding diversity behind the scenes.

In a sport with so few female coaching representatives on the men’s side, Tailor’s journey is a breath of fresh air. She has undoubtedly worked tirelessly to get to the position she is currently in and paved the way for young women and girls who want to follow the same route. Sometimes you need to go where there is no path and leave a trail. Manisha has done this.
