Leicester City could be dealt a massive blow following the side’s promotion to the Premier League as head coach Enzo Maresca is garnering interest from clubs abroad and in England, according to the latest reports.
The Italian coach took charge of the Foxes last summer after having a very successful campaign as the assistant manager to Pep Guardiola when Manchester City won the treble, lifting the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup.
Appointing Maresca straight after the club were relegated from the top-flight was a big risk taken by the hierarchy as he had only ever managed Parma in Serie B prior to his move to the East Midlands. With I Gialloblu, Maresca was dismissed by November in his first season in charge.
Nevertheless, the 44-year-old has proved to be an astute appointment by the Leicester City board. The Foxes ended the campaign as title winners, sealing a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking with two games to spare. Furthermore, Leicester boasted the second-best attacking record and the best defensive record in England’s second tier this season.
This success has reportedly piqued the interest of one of Maresca’s former clubs. According to The Daily Mail, La Liga side Sevilla are one of a number of teams in Europe and in England monitoring Maresca as the Spanish outfit are contemplating a summer change.

The Italian played for the Andalusian club for four years from 2005 to 2009, where he made 138 appearances and is now wanted by the board to be Quique Sanchez Flores’ successor in the dugout at the Roman Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in the summer.

Leicester City won’t want to lose Maresca this summer. He has managed to get the side back to the promised land within ten months and has played some scintillating football along the way. Additionally, he has a great rapport with the players and will certainly be difficult to replace should he leave.
However, success always brings interest from bigger clubs. Sevilla are a top side in Spain but haven’t looked like it this season. Maresca is someone who knows the club really well so it’s not too surprising that Maresca is one of their preferred options to take charge this summer.
