Grimsby Town are weighing up a move for former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Jordan Wright.
Sources close to the Mariners have exclusively revealed to The Real EFL that the Lincoln City keeper is a transfer target this summer.
Wright has been with the Imps since January 2022 having joined from Forest but the 25-year-old has played second fiddle to Josh Griffiths, Carl Rushworth and now Lukas Jensen.
The former Alfreton Town loanee has only appeared in 20 League One matches for City since his arrival, although he has performed admirably when called upon. A move to DN35 could be the opportunity for Wright to stake a claim for regular first-team action and kick-start his career.
Sources have now revealed that City’s rivals are chasing the stopper as they look to add to their goalkeeping department. The Mariners’ only senior goalkeeping option is Jake Eastwood after loan keeper Harvey Cartwright returned to Hull City.
It was a disappointing season for Town and boss David Artell is looking to build a squad that will drastically improve on their 21st-place finish. So far, the former Crewe Alexandra boss has added Barrow right-back Tyrell Warren to his ranks and is now chasing further defensive reinforcements in the shape of Wright.
The giant keeper is under contract at the LNER Stadium for a further year so any deal will require an agreement between the two clubs.
Should the Imps lose their second-choice keeper, the returning Sam Long is likely to take the place on the bench and support the superb Dane Jensen.

This would be a good move for Jordan Wright, both on the field and off. Logistically the transfer makes sense and the chance for regular action in League Two will help to get his career going.
He has performed well when called upon by the Imps but has found himself playing the supporting role to excellent goalkeepers. Now is the time for him to go and be the number one.
