It’s hard to say that Adam Idah is in the plans at Carrow Road currently having been loaned out to Scottish Premiership Champions Celtic in January after starting just 12 of Norwich City’s first 29 Championship games prior to his move.
He has however excelled north of the border and has truly proved his quality during his short stint in Scotland. Now a key part of the attack at Celtic Park, Idah has gained quite a few admirers having scored nine times in all competitions for the Scottish giants.
It is a move which has worked out exceptionally well for the Irishman, who looks to have now got his career back on track having fallen out-of-favour at his parent club. With all of his previous senior experience coming with the Canaries, a change of scenery has perhaps got the best out of the 23-year-old, who looks to be a very exciting prospect.
He’s taken his chances well during his loan spell and is already hugely popular with the Celtic fanbase due to his goalscoring exploits. Idah would become all the more popular having scored a dramatic 90th minute winner against bitter rivals Rangers to help his side achieve Scottish Cup glory. As a result, it could be argued that he’s achieved cult hero status at the club, and fans are already asking for the deal to be made permanent.
Now returning to Carrow Road after the end of his loan spell, it is unknown what the next move will be for the Irish international, however a move back to Scotland is not out of question.
It could well be likely that Idah returns to Celtic next season, with their manager Brendan Rodgers not shying away from the potential of a move when speaking to the Daily Record.
“Hopefully very real (chances of Idah signing permanently) For me he was the catalyst of our season because we needed a different dimension up front. The big guy comes in, he has so much potential and played in some really important games.
“What I love about Adam (Idah) is he is a big game player. He loves the big games and occasions. Hopefully we can do something. He has a long-term contract at Norwich but he is definitely one I would love to bring back here. At 23 with the potential and quality he has I think he can really push on in his career.”
Idah is currently valued at £2.4 million by Transfermarkt but would be expected to go for far higher after his spell with Celtic. Various reports have suggested that he could go for well over the £5 million mark now, which would certainly boost Norwich’s summer transfer funds.

It would come as no surprise to see Idah make a move this summer given the circumstances. Even with a new manager coming into Carrie Road it’s unlikely that he can be convinced to stay, and seems to have really enjoyed his football in Scotland.
His sale would bring a significant fee for the club and given he wasn’t exactly in the plans this season, that is a rather large boost. Nonetheless, they do need attacking options going into next season and therefore must use that money well to improve the depth.
The loan move has worked out for all parties ; Norwich now value him at a higher price, Idah has obviously proven his quality and Celtic have had a player who has had scored some huge goals for the club. Perhaps a move this summer is the best option for all involved.
