Sheffield Wednesday have continued ‘positive’ talks with head coach Danny Rohl over rewarding the German manager with a new contract, according to the latest reports.
When Rohl took the job, becoming one of the youngest coaches in Championship history back in October, the club were sitting rock bottom of the table, with relegation down to League One looking ever-likely with each passing defeat.
Former Sheffield Wednesday Star Set To Become League Two Boss
Under Xisco Munoz at the start of the campaign, the South Yorkshire outfit failed to win any of their opening ten matches before the former Watford manager was relieved of his duties. However, Since Rohl was appointed, Sheffield Wednesday are sitting ninth in the form table, showcasing the quality and magnitude of the job that the 35-year-old completed at Hillsborough. Only eight teams picked up more points than the Owls since the date of his appointment, all of whom finished inside the league’s top eight.
As a result of this impressive turnaround, Rohl has garnered interest in clubs looking for a new manager before the 2024/25 campaign commences. Hull City, who recently sacked Liam Rosenior at the end of the campaign, and Sunderland are reportedly interested in signing the ex-Bayern Munich assistant manager.
Nevertheless, the Sheffield Star released a report late on Wednesday morning claiming that Sheffield Wednesday have been continuing to have positive talks with Rohl about staying at the club next season, with both parties keen to agree a deal before the summer transfer window opens in a few weeks’ time.
Rohl has recently been on holiday after the Championship ended over two weeks ago but met with the club’s owner Dejphon Chansiri upon return. He could sign a new and improved contract very soon.

This is really exciting news for the Sheffield Wednesday board, the players and the supporters. Rohl is undoubtedly the club’s most important asset right now and losing him would put a dampener on next season from the get-go.
However, Chansiri will need to offer him the promise of having money to spend this summer to ensure that the Owls can crack on next season instead of languishing in yet another relegation battle.
