Former Bayern Munich Women’s manager Thomas Wörle is not in the running to take on the vacant role at Lincoln City, The Real EFL understands.
The Imps are on the lookout for a new head coach after parting company with Mark Kennedy last month, with assistant Tom Shaw taking the reins on an interim basis whilst the hunt continues. He immediately delivered an upturn in fortunes, winning successive games against Fleetwood Town and Charlton Athletic.
The bounce prove short-lived, and the East Midlands side are now winless in three and exited the FA Cup at the hands of League Two outfit Morecambe at the LNER Stadium on Saturday.
CEO Liam Scully revealed to BBC Radio Lincolnshire this morning that he still expects Shaw to be in the dugout for this weekend’s League One clash with Port Vale, indicating that there is no rush to appoint a permanent successor for Kennedy. Former boss Danny Cowley remains the favourite, but Irish duo Damien Duff and Stephen Bradley are also thought to be in the running.
Last night, The Real EFL podcast host Chris Laming spotted that German coach Thomas Wörle appeared to have entered the running after appearing on the latest round of betting odds.

The 41-year-old is currently in charge of third tier side SSV Ulm, who are sitting comfortably in fourth after winning the Regionalliga Südwest last season. Prior to that, he spent nine years at the helm for Bayern Munich Women, winning two league titles after taking over the job from his father in 2010. Nonetheless, it is our understanding that there is nothing behind his sudden appearance.
Whilst Wörle does not appear to be under consideration at Sincil Bank, speculation continues over potential interest in Duff, with Scully and the club’s director of football Jez George both present for Shelbourne’s win over Drogheda United last week. However, new signing Jack Moylan was playing in his final match for the League of Ireland side before heading over to LN5 in January, which Scully has confirmed was the reason for the trip;
“I came back from Ireland and the team told me ‘it’s gone wild and there are all sorts of rumours. The reality of things are often so very different. It was great to get over to see Jack (Moylan) in his final game for Shelbourne.
“The Ireland trip was about Jack Moylan… and I’ll mention this glibly before the betting odds go crazy, but when people talk about League Of Ireland managers, I can’t believe people are not mentioning Kevin Doherty.
“The job he and the team have done at Drogheda with the resources they have is phenomenal. They obviously played a huge part in Freddie Draper and Elicha Ahui’s careers… but there could be a few red herrings there.
“Quite rightfully, people want to know what’s going on and it’s our job to run a professional process and run it discreetly with all the people involved in that.”
