Norwich City Star Attracting European Interest

Norwich City are bracing themselves for offers for their impressive midfielder Gabriel Sara amidst interest from Italy, as per a report in The Pink Un.

Italian giants AS Roma are said to be keen on the Brazilian. It is suggested that the Norwich man has been identified by Roma boss Daniele De Rossi and incoming sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.

Sara’s impressive season in the Championship has seen him catch the eye of the Roma officials who believe his versatility across the midfield will add to a squad De Rossi believes is short on midfield talent. The Italian club are set to open discussions with the player’s representatives shortly.

The £6 million buy from Sau Paulo took a little time to bed into English football, managing 11 goal involvements in his first season. However, he has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 13 times and assisting a further 12 goals across 46 league appearances, missing only 33 minutes of action all season.

Norwich is said to be bracing themselves for interest in a player who contributed the sixth-highest number of goals in the second tier this season. The interest, according to the report, is set to come from the Premier League and Europe with teams having monitored his performances throughout the season.

Despite the Canaries losing out convincingly to Leeds United in the Championship playoffs, the club will expect to make a substantial profit on their initial outlay for the 24-year-old. The Brazilian recently spoke in The Guardian of his happiness at Carrow Road and his delight at moving to Norwich.

“The level in the Championship is so high and the club, the structure, the pitch, is amazing, and the city’s welcome was so warm. It was like love at first sight. If I had the chance to do this move again, I would do it 100 times. It has really helped me develop as a player.”

This will be disappointing news to Norwich supporters, who would hope that Sara is the type of player the club can build around and look to improve on this season’s performance. Any new manager coming in would have loved a midfielder who can provide 25 goals a season.

For the player, this would be an incredible move. Joining the Stadio Olimpico outfit could allow Sara to play in European competition (pending the results of Serie A’s final day) and to test himself at a huge football club.
