Stoke City Reject Seven-Figure Bid From Serie A Side

Stoke City have rejected a seven-figure bid from Hellas Verona for forward Tyrese Campbell, according to TeamTalk.

The relegation-threatened Serie A side have approached Stoke City for 24-year-old forward Campbell and have had a bid rejected, with the figure said to be €1 million (£850,000), as was reported later by journalist Pete O’Rourke via a post on X.

Campbell has started only seven games at the Bet365 stadium this season, finding the net on one occasion after several injury issues throughout the season. Despite a bid being rejected, there could still be further action on the player’s front with his current deal at the Staffordshire outfit set to expire at the end of this season.

The 24-year-old has often been a talisman for The Potters throughout the years, registering nine goals and five assists across the 2022/23 campaign. However, his time with Stoke City has often been stop-start due to injury issues.

However, since returning from injury recently he has featured in Stoke’s recent fixtures against Sunderland, Birmingham City and Rotherham United, although he has yet to find the net since early December.

Nevertheless, with the player’s current contract set to expire this summer, it remains to be seen whether Stoke will look to cash in on the versatile forward. This will prove to be a big decision for Schumacher who is still yet to see the best of the forward since taking over at the club.

Stoke City currently sit 19th place in the Championship, preparing for the visit of Leicester City this Saturday. Having started last time out against Sunderland, Campbell may not feature for the side again should he complete an exit before tonight’s deadline.

Campbell’s situation is one of the more interesting ones this deadline day. With his talent clear to see, recent seasons have been particularly inconsistent for the young forward due to injury issues.

With his deal set to expire at the end of the season and a manager still yet to properly use the 24-year-old, it will be intriguing to see whether Stoke choose to cash in on Campbell amid late interest.
