Millwall have completed the signing of Adam Mayor from Morecambe for a fee in the region of £300,000, the club have officially confirmed.
The 18-year-old winger has signed for the Lions on a long-term contract, having impressed the Championship side after playing 23 times this season for Morecambe, scoring three goals while collecting five assists. The Liverpool-born attacker made his first-team debut in August 2022 and went on to make 57 senior appearances for the Shrimpers.
The teenager becomes Millwall head coach Joe Edwards’ third signing of the January transfer window and his first permanent addition after securing loans for Japhet Tanganga and Michael Obafemi until the end of the season.
On the announcement of his arrival, Edwards spoke to club media and admitted that he is excited to see what the future holds for the young winger.
“He’s had a lot of impact, which has really impressed me.
“He has pace and power – and there’ll be more to come as he goes through his physical development – and to see what he is capable of already is really promising,” he continued.
“If a player comes on the pitch and produces the goods, there’s no reason why Adam wouldn’t become a more permanent fixture in our squad or get game time to make an impact this season.”
Mayor is suspended for Millwall’s clash with Hull City this weekend due to an accumulation of yellow cards but will be available from Sunday, 11th February when the Lions face Coventry City.

Mayor’s arrival at The Den should give fans real hope for the future of the club under Edwards’ reign. With an ageing squad at his disposal, Edwards is clearly looking to bring in young and fresh talent that can thrive under his new style of possession-based football.
Millwall have lacked out-and-out wingers for a long time due to the way former manager Gary Rowett set his team up and fans will be excited to see what Mayor can bring to the Championship outfit. Although unlikely to make any real impact this season, he will definitely be one to look out for in the future.
