Fleetwood Town’s Jack Marriott had today been unveiled as Wrexham’s latest signing.
Rumoured with a move away from the League One outfit for the majority of the window, Marriott has finally found his landing spot in the form of Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham. The striker has signed a deal running to the summer of 2025 and is expected to be a hit in Wales.
The EFL journeyman will bring plenty of experience to the League Two side with him and has turned out for no less than than nine sides in the EFL, including Peterborough, Luton and Derby County.
With over 100 appearances in both the Championship as well as as in League One, Marriott is the type of signing which was expected from Wrexham after their Hollywood Takeover, and one which should help them on their road to the third tier.
Parkinson’s side currently sit in second place in the fourth tier, five points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand. They’ll be looking for back-to-back promotions this season, with anything less being seen as a failure.
Fleetwood will receive some much needed funds through the sale of Marriott as they look to improve their squad prior to the transfer window slamming shut at 11pm tonight (Thursday). Currently rock bottom of the third tier, it seems as if Charlie Adam’s men need a miracle to survive.
They’ll have to act quickly to utilise the funds from Marriott’s sale, but there is no reason as to why they won’t be active in the market today.
Speaking to club media upon his arrival at Wrexham, Marriott said:
“I’m really pleased to be here and happy to get the deal over the line.
“The club’s performances, the way they play as a team is a real key factor for me signing and the trajectory that the Club is going in is something that I want to be involved in and I’m absolutely delighted to be here.”
Manager Phil Parkinson added:
“We’re really pleased to bring Jack to the Club. He’s got proven experience at a higher level and comes to us looking to make a real contribution in our second half of the season.”

It seemed a given that Marriott would leave the Cod Army this January and Wrexham were one of the teams heavily linked with him throughout the window. Despite Fleetwood’s shocking season this year, Marriott still has five goals to his name and will be a big loss for Adam’s side.
Wrexham already have plenty of quality in the attacking areas however given they have one of the highest budgets in the league it comes as no surprise to see them active in the transfer market once again. They’ll now fully be expected to put a title challenge down and push Stockport the whole way.
