Forest Green Rovers Sign Experienced League Two Midfielder

Forest Green Rovers have confirmed the permanent signing of midfielder Emmanuel Osadebe from fellow League Two side Bradford City.

The 27-year-old joined Bradford in the summer of 2022 and went on to make 33 appearances for the Yorkshire club, having previously made 152 appearances in the fourth division and an additional 42 times in League One.

The experienced midfielder becomes Forest Green’s fifth signing of the January window, after the permanent arrival of Alex Gorrin from Oxford United. In addition to three loan arrivals of Maxi Oyedele, Dominic Thompson and Tommy Simkin.

The new arrival in Nailsworth has played mostly as an attacking midfielder in his career, having also plied his trade in the central midfield position as well as out wide or even in the right fullback spot. The utility man has scored 14 goals and provided 15 assists in his career for Bradford, Newport County, Walsall, Cambridge United and Gillingham.

Speaking via the club’s website after his arrival at The Bolt New Lawn, Osadebe said:

“I’m delighted to be here. I want to come and help the team get back to where they should be.

“I’m going to bring a lot of energy and positivity. Staying up and winning games is something we can definitely make happen for sure.”

The Irishmen will wear the number 45 during his stint in Gloucestershire. He will be looking to make his first appearance against his former team this weekend as his now managerless side travel to Gillingham for a 3pm kickoff.

As has been said multiple times this window, Forest Green Rovers needs plenty of reinforcements to keep themselves in League Two as they find themselves sat rock bottom and without manager Troy Deeney. Another addition to bolster the midfield will be useful and an experienced head is required to keep the relatively young squad balanced.
As for Osadebe, it is a move that makes some sense, as he has only managed to start five games so far this season, accruing a mere 576 minutes of action in all competitions.
