Norwich City Forward January Target For Premier League Club

Norwich City‘s star winger Jonathan Rowe is gaining interest from a number of Premier League clubs, with a potential January move on the cards.

The 20-year-old has been in sublime form for The Canaries this season, scoring 11 goals in 25 appearances in the Championship, including his strike against Hull City last weekend.

Sky Sports News’ Lyall Thomas reported that Rowe is on the shortlist for Brentford this window, alongside several wingers across Europe. Cercle Brugge’s Antonio Nusa, Hoffenheim’s Max Beier and Real Betis’ Assane Diao are also on the Bees’ radar.

Norwich’s number 27 came through the academy at Carrow Road and made his debut for the club against Crystal Palace in their 2021/22 Premier League campaign. He has totalled 46 appearances for the club, 28 of which have come in this season.

Rowe also earned his first England call-up in October, featuring for the Under 21’s side, scoring on his debut against Serbia in a 9-1 thrashing of the Balkans nation. He featured alongside Leeds United‘s Charlie Cresswell and Swansea City‘s Bashir Humphreys.

Other Premier League sides, including Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, are also tracking the 20-year-old’s progress with the Canaries this season. Rowe won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for August 2023, with his blistering start to the season, scoring five goals in five games.

Transfermarkt currently values the winger at €5,000,000 (£4.3m), with his contract for David Wagner’s side expiring in June 2025. The 20-year-old signed his last deal in January 2022.

Norwich City are currently 11th in the Championship, but are just two points away from the playoffs, with Coventry City currently occupying the last spot in the top six.

Jonathan Rowe is currently one of the most exciting prospects in the Championship at the moment, so it makes sense why Premier League clubs are taking a keen interest in him. The 20-year-old is already consistently delivering in a very competitive league, and his ability is only going to improve in the future. Scoring his fantastic solo goal against Hull City last weekend made him even more well-known, so a future bidding war could come soon for the Canaries winger.

Brentford are in need of a left winger in the window. Rowe is not their first choice so a move to West London seems unlikely at this stage, but Sky Sports News do report that all three other options for their vacancy will not be allowed to leave in January. Adding the promising youngster to a prolific frontline already including Bryan Mbuemo and former Peterborough United star Ivan Toney does seem like a great place for him to learn from proven goalscorers. The Bees have not been at their best in front of the net this season, so perhaps Rowe could be their solution in years to come.
