West Bromwich Albion have announced the signing of Andreas Weimann on loan from Championship rivals Bristol City for the remainder of the season, as confirmed by the club’s official website.
Corberan has continued to bolster his squad’s fire power in the January window, adding Austrian international striker Andreas Weimann to The Baggies’ attacking ranks.
Despite currently sitting fifth in The Championship, 12 sides have scored more goals than Corberan’s side this season and with form proving inconsistent at periods so far, the Spaniard will have been keen to bring in the 32-year-old’s experience for the remainder of their promotion challenge.
The club currently boast the second best defensive record with 24 goals conceded in 26 Championship fixtures, it is no surprise to see Corberan look to boost his options at the sharp end of the pitch.
Often proving a talisman at the level, the Austrian was a product of Derby County’s academy and has gone to make over 300 appearances in the second tier and has a wealth of experience elsewhere making over 100 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa as well as being capped 21 times by his nation.
The news of West Brom’s pursuit of the player broke earlier this week; however, it was also reported that Weimann will not be the only offensive player the West-Midlands club will look to add to their ranks this window.
In an interview on West Bromwich Albion’s official website, Weimann said:
“I’m really looking forward to the next few months. I know a lot about the club and I’ve been around the area for a while now.
“I just want to help as much as I can and get this club to where it wants to be.
“I’m definitely a team player, but I also think I’ve got goals in me. Hopefully I can bring goals, assists and experience to the team.”

With The Baggies’ attacking options clearly the area to address this window, this looks to be a good, reliable signing that will bring a wealth of experience on and off the pitch.
With brilliant pedigree, Weimann will be a great asset towards the promotion dream at The Hawthorns this season.
