Queens Park Rangers Join Relegation Rivals In Transfer Battle

Queens Park Rangers have joined relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town in the race for Brentford midfielder Myles Peart-Harris, according to TEAMtalk.

The Hoops are hoping to add to their squad this month in an effort to remain in the Championship next season. With just one point from their last five league outings, manager Marti Cifuentes knows that this is his last opportunity to get things right before a potential drop to League One.

It’s been 20 years since QPR occupied a spot in the third tier and adding a goalscorer to their ranks is high on the agenda. Reports surfaced earlier this week that former striker Chris Martin – currently at Bristol Rovers – is being monitored, with his short-term deal at the Gas set to expire this month.

More attacking recruits are needed and Brentford youngster Peart-Harris has appeared on the radar. According to TEAMtalk, the 21-year-old may be allowed to depart the Premier League outfit on loan this month, with Sheffield Wednesday already previously linked.

The attacking midfielder spent last season on loan at Forest Green Rovers – then of League One – contributing five goals and four assists in 40 league outings. He remained at the Gtech Community Stadium this season and made his Premier League debut last month as a late substitute in the 3-1 win against Luton Town.

Having played the entirety of the second half FA Cup draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers last week, it is said that Thomas Frank may opt to send the former Chelsea youngster out on loan to gain more first team minutes and another temporary stint is on the cards.

The Owls now appeared to have been joined by QPR and Huddersfield Town in the race, alongside League One leaders Portsmouth. The quartet have reportedly all contacted Brentford to ‘sound out his availability’, with the Bees still undecided on the situation.

QPR face an uphill battle in their bid for survival and are currently four points from safety following their recent poor form. They will be looking to stop the rot on Sunday when they host Watford at Loftus Road.

This will be an interesting scenario to watch play out. Peart-Harris spent last season on loan at Forest Green and performed well despite their relegation. It will be interesting to see whether the player is willing to accept another spell at a club battling relegation – albeit this time in the Championship.

Portsmouth will fancy their chances due to the situation they are in and the opportunity to challenge for a league winners medal. Despite the difference in divisions, there isn’t a lot between the four teams and he could thrive at Fratton Park under the guidance of John Mousinho.
