Leeds United could be in for a busy January transfer window, particularly when it comes to outgoings, as several players are being linked with moves away from the club.
The Peacocks have been inconsistent in recent weeks. A comfortable 3-0 win over Birmingham City in Wayne Rooney’s final game in charge was just Leeds’ second over the past five games, having recently been overtaken by promotion rivals Southampton, who are on an 18-match unbeaten run in the Championship.
Head coach Daniel Farke could look at the winter window as an outlet to help Leeds United strengthen ahead of the second half of the campaign, but the club may need to sell some players first before any new signings are made.
One player sale that could be made this month is Max Wober who has spent the entire season out on loan at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach. The Austria international moved to Elland Road last January for a reported £11 million and went on to make 19 appearances as the club were relegated from the Premier League.
Wober was one of several players with a relegation clause inserted into his contract which meant that he was allowed to leave if Leeds dropped down to the second tier, hence why a move to Monchengladbach came to fruition.
In recent weeks, Wober has admitted he is keen to stay in Germany beyond the end of the campaign but there is currently no option-to-buy clause in the loan deal. Nevertheless, a permanent transfer could still happen, according to the latest reports.
Gladbach Live, via Sport Witness, have revealed that Leeds United and the German side have held “extensive negotiations” to strike the right deal for the player, although there is no rush to complete the transfer in January.

If Leeds United can get this deal done in January, then that should be the priority over the coming weeks as it means the club can recuperate some funds from his transfer and spend it on another player or two that will suit Farke’s style of play.
However, there is no rush to sell Wober any time soon. The Austrian still has a contract with the Whites until 2027 so Leeds won’t panic if Monchengladbach refuse to agree to their price tag.
