Norwich City Eyeing Manager With 9.1% Win Record In Most Recent Role

Norwich City are weighing up bringing former Derby County, Everton and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard to Carrow Road as David Wagner’s replacement, according to reports.

It was revealed by Pink Un this week that the Canaries board held a meeting on Monday in the aftermath of City’s dismal 3-1 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend. Impending sporting director Ben Knapper was also said to be present in these talks.

Nevertheless, it was decided during proceedings that Wagner would be allowed to take the team this Saturday as the Norfolk-based club take on Cardiff City in Wales in order to buy the hierarchy some time to find the right successor over the course of the international break.

TeamTalk released a report today claiming that Norwich City’s board have identified Frank Lampard as the next man to sit in the hot seat at Carrow Road. The England legend is said to be very high on a list of replacements for Wagner.

The 45-year-old was in charge of Everton at the start of last season but was relieved of his duties with the Toffees sitting uncomfortably in the relegation zone midway through the campaign. However, Lampard wasn’t out of work for long.

After Graham Potter was sacked at Chelsea, the icon made his return to the Stamford Bridge faithful for the second time as the head coach, but in an interim capacity. Unfortunately, Lampard couldn’t turn the team’s fortunes around, leaving the Blues with a woeful 9.1% win rate.

Recent spells in the dugout have not gone so well for Lampard, but he did manage to guide Derby County to the playoff final in 2019 in his first season as a professional manager.

This could be a good move for Lampard. It’s highly unlikely that he will get a job in the Premier League in the future after some disastrous stints recently but taking a side back to the top-flight could be his best route.

However, Norwich City fans will definitely feel a little worried about Lampard’s recent track record in management which is woeful, to say the least.
