Leeds United are set to reject any offers for young attacker Crysencio Summerville when the January transfer window opens amid interest from the Premier League, according to reports.
The Peacocks secured the services of the Dutch winger from Feyenoord back in 2020 for £1.3 million. However, the Yorkshire club now value Summerville at £25 million, as reported by Football Insider. This would be a 1,823.1% profit for Leeds.
The outlet are claiming that Leeds United will reject all advances for Summerville this winter as the board and coaching staff believe that the former ADO Den Haag loanee can go from strength to strength for the remainder of the season and become an integral component of the club’s push for promotion back to the Premier League.
Football Insider have also revealed that there are two clubs in the English top-flight interested in signing the 22-year-old, although the outlet doesn’t state who the keen parties are.
However, Fabrizio Roman reported during the summer window that newly promoted Premier League side Burnley were keen to secure the services of The Netherlands’ U21 international but Leeds turned down an offer of £20 million from the Clarets.
Summerville has played 12 games this season, totalling 902 minutes of football for the Whites in the Championship, and has managed to score six goals as Daniel Farke’s side sit third in the table, seven points behind second-place Ipswich Town.
Retaining the services of Summerville may be the difference between earning promotion at the end of the campaign and staying in the second tier for another season.
Writer’s View
Summerville is an excellent player and will be key for the team if Leeds United manage to return to the promised land. Losing him for £25 million is far from ideal at this stage in the season.
It will be far too difficult to replace the player’s quality during the winter window given that clubs tend to be a little more conservative with selling their prised assets.
