West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan has heaped praise on Grady Diangana, stating he is the ‘special star’ of their side after his recent performances.
The Congolese attacker wasn’t even involved in the squad for the opening four games of the season, and only featured a total of seven minutes in the opening seven games. However, with the squad being hit with injuries in the attacking area, he has found himself getting regular minutes and helping the team improve their results.
Since his reintegration into the side, West Brom have won five of their last eight fixtures, losing only once, away to Birmingham City. They currently are on a run of three wins in a row, with Diangana picking up two goals and two assists in the victories.
“Diangana is one very special player, when he commits with the situation he is one player that can make a difference in the Championship. said Corberan speaking to the Express & Star.
“We are very pleased to see him scoring goals like last week, the previous week and giving an assist, it’s very important that the players in attack impact and produce and now he is finding a way to do this.” he added.
Baggies boss Corberan stated that he now feels he has found the right position for the attacker, and that he has used his minutes to impress enough to keep his starting spot.
“From when we arrived here he was playing more in the left than the right, I see now he playing better in the right than the left.
“And the fact that we’ve had some injuries in the attack has helped him to play more minutes.
“With these minutes he is using very well and he is showing the real level that he has to play.”
West Brom now sit fifth in the Championship table, and back in the hunt for play-off places. Their next fixture sees them travel to fourth-placed Southampton before the international break.

It’s possible to argue that West Brom have both one of the best squads and managers in the division. Under Carlos Corberan they’ve got a manager with experience of getting teams in to play-off contention, as he had done previously with Huddersfield Town.
With Grady Diangana they’ve got one of the best players in the Championship on his day. He is also experienced at this level, making 112 appearances during his time at West Brom in the second division. If he can maintain his attacking form, coupled with the return of further attacking threat, the West Midlands side could be a team pushing for promotion this season.
