Journalist Reveals Timeframe On Gareth Ainsworth’s QPR Departure

Further pressure piled on Gareth Ainsworth at the weekend as Queens Park Rangers were defeated in a crucial match against Huddersfield Town, but the ex-Wycombe Wanderers boss can still buy himself some more time.

Journalist Darren Witcoop revealed earlier this morning that Ainsworth has been handed a three-game lifespan at Loftus Road. A defeat in all three games, particularly the match away at Rotherham United, could be the final nail in his coffin.

Writing on Twitter/X today, Witcoop said:

“Believe next three are crucial. Lose all three, esp Rotherham at home, and can’t see him surviving international break. GA is a good guy but can’t fool fans.”

Two weeks ago, Witcoop reported that Ainsworth’s job was safe despite a 4-0 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers. However, the club have seemingly changed their tune after Saturday’s loss against fellow strugglers Huddersfield.

QPR went 2-0 down within the first quarter of an hour but pulled one back just before half-time through defender Jake Clarke-Salter. Unfortunately, Ainsworth’s men could not find the much-needed equaliser and have remained four points from safety.

The London club have now suffered four defeats in a row, last picking up a victory at the beginning of September in a 2-0 win away against Middlesbrough.

Furthermore, the Hoops are averaging 0.67 points per game this season, meaning the side are projected to finish on 31 points this term, showcasing the form of a relegation team.

According to journalist Alan Nixon on his exclusive Patreon, former QPR boss Michael Beale is interested in returning to Loftus Road after his dismissal at Rangers but would need to make amends first with the fanbase after his sudden departure a year ago.

QPR take on West Bromwich Albion tomorrow away at the Hawthorns and then host runaway league-leaders Leicester City on Saturday. However, Saturday week’s game against Rotherham is possibly the decider for Ainsworth, as per Witcoop.

Losing away at the Millers would mean QPR drop to second from bottom, although perhaps the board will decide to pull the trigger anyway if the team are defeated heavily against their next two opponents.
