Lincoln City are in a battle with Championship club Hull City for the signature of free agent winger Mink Peeters, according to Planet Football, via TEAMtalk.
The Imps are short on attacking options following long-term injuries to Ben House and Tyler Walker, although did bring in former loanee Olamide Shodipo on a short-term deal until January last week. After a positive start to the campaign, they have struggled for goals in recent weeks, scoring just three times in their last six outings in all competitions.
Manager Mark Kennedy is looking to rectify the issue and it is claimed that the club are in talks with former Real Madrid youngster Mink Peeters, who is available after departing Dubai-based club Gulf United.
The 25-year-old was once dubbed one of the most exciting prospects in Europe, and the La Liga giants saw enough in him to prise him away from Ajax in 2014. He represented their under-19 team before realising that he would need to move on to gain regular first team football, where he eventually joined Dutch outfit VVV Venlo on a temporary deal in 2017. The former Dutch under-20 international made just a solitary appearance before another two loan stints, but his time at Madrid was cut short in 2019.
Peeters has struggled to gain a foothold in the game since, with spells in Serbia and again in the Netherlands proving unsuccessful. He has been rebuilding his career in Dubai but has now set his sights on a move to England.
Whilst Lincoln are in need of additional numbers, they are facing stiff competition from Hull. The attacker’s recent comments seem to point towards a move towards the Championship;
“I am training hard at the moment and my ambition is to do everything I can to get my career to the highest level possible from this point.
“I am looking for the best club to share the belief I still have in my story. England is a country I would love to play in and you look at the Premier League and the Championship and they have incredible crowds for every match.
“A friend of mine, Zian Flemming, is playing at Millwall at the moment and tells me how amazing the Championship can be, so it is a league I would love to play in.”

Although once chased by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, Peeters’ career has taken a different path and he is now looking to rebuild. Whilst his ambitions are clearly to play in the Championship and beyond, the attacker has struggled for regular game time throughout his career and a move to the LNER Stadium may appeal on that basis.
Hull are a team which harbour ambitions of playing in the Premier League so may be unwilling to offer a route straight into the first team, whilst Lincoln would be less forgiving. It’s a risk for both teams, but one worth keeping an eye on nonetheless.
