Leicester City are cruising in the Championship at the moment, sitting top of the league, but EFL pundit and former player Adrian Clarke believes the season could still end in disappointment.
A comfortable 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium on Saturday against Stoke City extended the Foxes’ winning streak to six-straight league matches going into the international break.
Enzo Maresca’s side are top of the division by two points, with high-flying Ipswich Town breathing down their necks, but the gap between Leicester and third-place Preston North End has now opened to ten points.
In eleven Championship games this season, Leicester City have picked up ten victories. The only defeat came at home against Hull City at the start of September. Having been relegated from the Premier League last season, Maresca’s men are already looking likely to return to the top flight at the first time of asking.
However, ex-Arsenal and Rotherham United player Adrian Clarke believes that Leicester City’s season could still end in disappointment if the team fail to achieve two very possible objectives.
Speaking on the What The EFL? Podcast, Clarke said [quotes Inside Futbol]:
“We will talk a lot more about them over the course of the season, but I actually feel, if Leicester don’t win the title and don’t get over 100 points, it would be a disappointment from here.
“It is as if it’s too easy for them at the moment.
“They are cruising it.”
Leicester City’s next game will take place after the international period as the Foxes travel to Swansea City to try and increase their winning run to seven games.

Perhaps failing to win the title from this position will be a disappointment, as Clarke said, since Leicester are cruising right now and are by far the strongest team in the division.
However, not reaching the century mark for points shouldn’t matter too much. You don’t get another trophy for doing so. Winning the title is still an incredible feat regardless of how many points are accumulated.
