Queens Park Rangers Boss Could Make History This Weekend

Queens Park Rangers head coach Gareth Ainsworth could oversee the longest winless run at home in the club’s history with a failure to beat Blackburn Rovers at Loftus Road tomorrow, as per West London Sport.

QPR have won two games from ten matches this season, both coming away from home against Cardiff City and Middlesbrough. Overall, Ainsworth’s side have picked up merely one point at their own ground in the 2023/24 campaign.

The London club are sitting 22nd in the Championship, one point away from safety, and pressure has been piling on the former Wycombe Wanderers boss ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Blackburn.

Like Ainsworth, Jon Dahl Tomasson is also under pressure as the Riversiders have lost their last four games in the league and are merely two points ahead of QPR despite finishing seventh last season.

This a must-win game for the two clubs and for each manager who could be facing the chopping block if their sides collect yet another defeat in England’s second tier.

WLS have declared that QPR have failed to win in ten straight home matches in the league. Failing to be victorious tomorrow would be the longest winless streak at home in the club’s 141-year history, a record Ainsworth certainly won’t want hanging over his head.

Boost for QPR

QPR have confirmed in a statement released on Friday morning that goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be available for selection after his red card against Leeds United on Tuesday was overturned on appeal.

The veteran goalkeeper was dismissed after the referee believed he brought down Patrick Bamford on the edge of the penalty area three minutes into stoppage time. However, replays showed that no contact was made, hence the decision has been overturned.

Writer’s View

Ainsworth is an excellent coach, as shown by his time at Wycombe Wanderers, but QPR need to start winning games, particularly at home, or else his time may be cut short in the Loftus Road dugout.

An 11-game winless run at home is not a record any manager is keen to collect but it would sum up his time in charge should Rangers fail to come away with three points tomorrow.
