Huddersfield Town Form Improves With Second Year Midfielder Pulling The Strings – Opinion

Jack Rudoni is fast becoming one of the best young talents in the Championship, and doing so while playing in a team that has struggled for form in the last couple of years in Huddersfield Town.

Wimbledon Protégé

The attacking midfielder only turned professional during the 2019-20 season with AFC Wimbledon after coming through their Academy.

Over the next couple of years, he became established in their first team notching up over 90 appearances, and was a leading light during the 2021/22 season even with the Dons suffering relegation from League One.

It was during that season that he caught the attention of clubs from higher leagues, which eventually led to him leaving London behind.

Huddersfield Town paid an undisclosed fee, and a four-year contract was signed in the summer of 2022. He made his debut in the 2022-23 season opener for the Terriers as a late substitute and then started the following week. He went on to make over 40 appearances in his first season at The John Smith’s Stadium, scoring twice overall.

Inspired Guidance

Under the guidance of Neil Warnock he has further enhanced his reputation, and despite the side still fighting against relegation, was always one of the first names on the team sheet for Huddersfield.

Moving into this season, Warnock announced his decision to step away from the club, but Rudoni has still been very much at the heart of Huddersfield’s attack.

He has already matched his two goals from last season and has now notched up 50 league starts in his time at the club.

His 50th appearance came when he played against Coventry City, in what was new manager Darren Moore’s first game in charge.

With a pass accuracy of 70.9% this season, he has also added some aggression to his game with three yellow cards to his name already.

The team has been in good form recently, which made Warnock’s decision to leave more puzzling. But, with Moore in charge, they have a chance to progress further. This new manager could get even more out of Rudoni’s game, advancing his career as a result.

Writer’s View

With the number of games played so far in his young career already, Moore could do worse than building a team that has Rudoni at the centre of things. He is at an age where he can still be shaped, but his raw energy and talent should not be ignored. If Huddersfield are to continue in an upward trajectory form-wise, it would not be a surprise to see Jack Rudoni play a starring role.
