Leeds United appear to have won the race for Swansea City striker Joel Piroe, with Football Insider claiming that the 24-year-old is set for a medical at Elland Road.
The Whites have been furiously working on a deal to bring the former PSV Eindhoven man to Yorkshire and negotiations have been taking place with their Championship rivals throughout the week.
It was reported earlier today that a £12 million deal had been agreed between the two clubs, and it looks as if the player has now agreed to the move. It is claimed that Leeds are now putting the finishing touches to the transfer and the attacker has been given permission by Swansea to complete the move.
It is a huge boost for manager Daniel Farke, who was desperate for attacking additions to his squad following the club’s poor start to the season. The former Premier League club are winless from their opening three fixtures and currently sit 19th in the table on two points.
Piroe arrives with much attacking pedigree and has been a revelation since joining Swansea City in 2021, scoring 41 Championship goals in 88 appearances across the two campaigns.
Leeds look to have fought off competition from fellow recently-relegated clubs Leicester City and Southampton, whilst it was also believed that Premier League outfit Everton were in the running.

This could potentially be a season-changing moment for Leeds United, with Piroe considered one of the best strikers in the Championship. The Whites have struggled in front of goal this term and are severely lacking in attacking options. This should give the squad a huge lift ahead of this weekend’s trip to table-toppers Ipswich Town.
Swansea on the other hand will feel deflated, particularly as interest remains in centre-back Nathan Wood from Southampton. It remains to be seen as to whether the club will have ample time to spend their recently acquired funds before the end of the transfer window next week, but no doubt they will be working around the clock in order to secure a replacement.
