Notts County announced the signing of impressive wide player Will Randall on a two-year deal today following his release from Sutton United, on the club’s official website.
Notts County have made their first signing after returning to League Two following their successful National League promotion campaign, which saw the Magpies clinch promotion via the playoffs with a win against Chesterfield last month. The newly promoted club announced Randall on a two-year deal as they look to improve their squad ahead of another potential promotion push next season.
Who Is Will Randall?
Randall started his career at Swindon Town, where he graduated from his home town’s academy and made several appearances in League One for the Robins. Swindon later sold him to Wolves at just eighteen years old in 2016, after plenty of interest in the EFL and Premier League.
He picked up plenty of experience whilst at Molineux, playing in their development squads and earning loan moves to Walsall, Forest Green Rovers and Spanish side, FC Jumilla.
He didn’t make it at Wolves though, and was released by the Premier League club before having a short spell at Newport County. He ended up at Sutton United ahead of the 2019-20 campaign and he has had an incredible few years with the Londoners, playing a key role in their National League promotion and survival in League Two.
Randall is a natural winger but could play a similar role to Aaron Nemane at Notts County as a wing-back, with versatility one of the strong points to his game.
What Has Been Said?
On the club’s official website, a statement from the Board of Directors on the signing said:
“Will is a player we tried to sign earlier this year, so we’re delighted to eventually bring him to Meadow Lane.
“He’s direct, an excellent set-piece taker and a goal threat who is comfortable on both flanks, while also having the qualities to cover the number-eight role.
“Importantly, Will is also very disciplined out of possession and is a great character who we think will add a lot to the squad.
“He’s known to Luke Williams and Ryan Harley from their time together at Swindon, so we’re very confident he’ll be a brilliant addition.”
