Millwall Keeping Scottish Star On Their Radar

Championship side Millwall are retaining their interest in Scottish striker Kevin Nisbet, but a move is not imminent for the Hibernian man, according to the South London Press.

The Hibernian striker was set for a move to the Championship side in January, however, that move eventually broke down and the Scot continued his season in the Scottish top flight. The club are reportedly still admirers of the 26-year-old and look to acquire his services, as they boost their squad and firepower for the new season. The Lions were chasing promotion this past season but fell out of the playoff places on the final day and will have to settle for another season in the second tier.

Nisbet has returned to the Scottish international side, as he was called up for their European qualifiers next month against Norway and Georgia, ending a two-year absence, which was boosted by the injury that Southampton striker Che Adams picked up.

The striker missed the first part of this season as a cruciate injury to his knee kept him out of the Hibernian side until mid-December, that did not affect him too much, however, as he managed to bag himself 12 goals in 20 appearances for the club helping them to a fifth-placed finish in the league.

In the final two fixtures of Hibs’ season, he was on the scoresheet in both games, in a 4-2 victory over champions Celtic and a 1-1 draw with their bitter rivals in Hearts. Following the Celtic fixture, Nisbet was not shy as he admitted it was potentially his final home game for the side, leading many to believe his Hibs career was coming to a close this summer.

The Scottish side will be eager to hold on to their player as they will hope to build on last season’s finish, however, they may be resigned to having to sell their player or lose him altogether with just one year remaining on his contract. The possibility of losing the player without a fee could be damaging to the club, especially as there is currently a club willing to pay a fee for the striker.

Millwall will be eager to build their squad for the next campaign and hope to go again chasing promotion, they narrowly missed out on the playoffs last season and adding more firepower to their side will be a priority as they begin to mark their shopping list in this summer’s transfer window.
