Peterborough United defender Nathan Thompson is set to be available for Posh’s second-leg affair against Sheffield Wednesday, according to reports from The Star.
The 32-year-old has been sidelined for the last month after suffering an ankle injury towards the end of the season, however, is set to be an option for Darren Ferguson’s side as they attempt to get a step closer to Wembley.
Who Is Nathan Thompson?
The well-experienced defender has been a consistent performance for Peterborough this season, featuring in 38 games across all competitions.
Starting his career at Swindon Town, Thompson rose up the ranks at his boyhood where he played 186 times for them. After missing out on promotion multiple times, the versatile defender joined fellow League One club Portsmouth. The Englishmen enjoyed two successful seasons at Pompey, where the right-back racked up 10 assists from the defensive position.
Following his time with the South Coast club, Thompson joined Posh where he has spent the last four seasons. Splitting his time at both centre-back and right-back, the former League Two winner is an experienced leader for a side that will be looking to hold on to their 4-0 lead.
Is Posh Wembley Bound?
Peterborough enters the second leg of their playoff semi-final with a huge lead over the Owls. Shocking everyone by beating the record-setting Wednesday by such a convincing affair, Peterborough played flawless football to go to Hillsborough with a 4-0 lead, and are just 180 minutes away from returning to the Championship after a year out.

Posh enter tonight with one foot already at Wembley, as Thompson should be able to give the team plenty of leadership to help them through. Whether he will feature in the starting team is still unknown, however playing his fair share of playoff games in the past, Thompson has a vast of experience in these games and should be able to help on and off the pitch.
