Forest Green Rovers have dismissed rumours that boss Duncan Ferguson’s job is under pressure, after reports suggesting such came out this weekend.
Following a 3-1 home defeat to Bristol Rovers this past Saturday, the League One side currently sits bottom of the table, with Ferguson without a win in his opening eight games since joining the club in late January.
Having undergone a winless start to his tender, a report suggested that Ferguson’s training methods and tactics are ‘out of date’ and ‘old school’.
The former Everton man signed a five-and-a-half-year deal just over a month ago, after the club also brought in 11 new signings during the January transfer window.
This job is Ferguson’s first permanent head-coach role of his managerial career, however, he has taken charge of Everton for five games on an interim basis. In that time Ferguson was assistant manager for his former club, working under the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Rafael Benitez.
Ferguson’s move to Gloucestershire was met with plenty of support from the fanbase, with supporters still supporting the former striker.
Now without a win since 10 December, Rovers remain 24th in the league and stand 12 points away from the drop zone, even after playing two extra games. Things won’t get any easier, with their next game being a trip to 2nd placed Plymouth Argyle.
With just ten games remaining in the season, Ferguson will have to turn things around quickly if the League Two champions want to remain in the division.
Speaking to Gloucestershire Live, the club said: “The reports suggesting that Duncan Ferguson is under pressure are made-up nonsense.”

It may be tough for Rovers fans for to have things stay as they are after the season they are having, but sticking with Ferguson is the right choice.
Ferguson has spent the last four years working under managerial giants and hasn’t had nearly enough time to turn things around at the club.
He signed a long-term contract for a reason and with plenty of players going in and out during the last transfer window, alongside the recent departure of their head of recruitment, it’s clear the club is going through some growing pains.
