Doncaster Rovers Boss Expresses Delight Over Contract Development

Doncaster Rovers have extended winger Kyle Hurst’s stay at the club with a new two-and-a-half-year deal, which will see him commit to the club until the summer of 2025, as announced on the club’s official website.

The 21-year-old broke onto the scene this season, making the jump to senior football. He’s gone on to make 36 appearances in all competitions while finding the back of the net seven times.

Hurst initially joined the League Two side on trial throughout pre-season last summer, and after impressing head coach Danny Schofield, made the move permanent.

Speaking on his new contract Hurst said: “I’m very happy about it. It’s a big achievement for me, my family and the people around me. I’m looking forward to just kicking on.

“I feel appreciated. With the way that I’ve been playing in games, I’ve think I’ve showcased how I am as a player.  The hard work pays off. “

“I just want to continue the way I’m going, improving on a personal level. With the club, it’s about going as far as we can. I feel like we have the players and the staff to do it.”

Manager Danny Schofield added: “Kyle is certainly a player that has a lot of potential. He has lots more to give and lots more to develop. I feel as though he’s been doing really well this season to move in the direction.”

The attacker becomes the latest Rovers player to commit to the club after captain Tom Anderson extended his deal earlier in the week.

With a new deal, Hurst is looking forward to continuing his stay at the club as Doncaster looks to push on and get back into League One.

After back-to-back losses, the South Yorkshire side sits 13th in the league, seven points away from the promotion spots. With the future of some players now settled, the focus can turn to the results on the pitch.

Writer’s View

If we’re looking at a first season in professional football then Hurst has had a very good start to his time at Doncaster.

Being a regular contributor at the left-wing position, the Englishmen has been a consistent starter for Rovers and looks like he has a lot more to offer.

As time goes on you hope he can add more to his game with zero assists so far in the league and a 47% dribble success rate, however at the young age of 21 he has plenty of time to improve as a player and most importantly knows how to score goals.
