Crawley Town has confirmed the signing of former Premier League midfielder Jordan Mutch on a short-term contract until the end of the season, as announced by the club.
The 31-year-old has quite an impressive footballing CV with 78 Premier League appearances under his name with the likes of Birmingham, Cardiff City, QPR, and Crystal Palace.
Mutch has spent the last five years playing in Canada, South Korea, Norway and most recently Australia, but is set to make the move back to the Football League.
The Englishman has been a free agent since his departure from A-League side Macarthur FC in May of 2022, where he played alongside Adrian Mariappa.
Last season with the Australian side, he made 21 appearances but failed to register a goal or assist.
The central midfielder will join up with Crawley with immediate effect, as the Red Devils look to avoid relegation out of the EFL.
Crawley Town at the time of writing are 23rd in League Two and in the drop zone but has up to four games in hand on teams above them. However, with just one win under new Head Coach Scott Lindsey and a run of six games without a win, escaping the bottom two will be no easy task.
Speaking about the move to his new team, Mutch said: “I am very happy to join Crawley until the end of the season and play under the boss. I can’t wait to start playing, and hopefully, me and the team can have some positive results from now until the end of the year, and we are very focused on the task ahead.”

Midfield has been a weak spot for Crawley in recent times and the addition of Mutch should be handy to have down the end stretch of the season.
What’s concerning is the playing time he has gained whilst playing abroad. Mutch has been out of the sport for just under a year, however, has only made 26 appearances in professional football over the last four and a half years.
The experienced player will bring a handful of knowledge to the South London club, as they prepare themselves for a relegation fight in the coming months.
