“Shaky Start But Well Recovered” – These Sheffield Wednesday Fans React To 24-y/o’s Weekend Performance

It seems Sheffield Wednesday have a Midas touch when it comes to winning games at the moment.

The Owls are on fire and seem on a collision course with the Championship, ending their two-year exile in the nation’s third tier. They haven’t lost a league game since October and are currently on a three-game winning streak, with nine goals in that period.

This weekend they secured three points against Charlton, courtesy of a 1-0 win at The Valley, with Liam Palmer’s ninth-minute goal enough to ensure Darren Moore’s men stayed on top of the table. Coupled with Plymouth’s defeat, it took them a step closer to the title, and they did it without Marvin Johnson.

‘Neymarv’, as some have labelled him, is currently serving a three-match suspension for improper or violent conduct in the latest trial by video. In recent weeks, Lincoln City’s Lewis Montsma, Bolton’s Dapo Afolayan (now St Pauli) and Bristol Rovers midfielder Sam Finley have all been suspended after matches. In the case of Finley, Montsma and Johnson, the suspension only came through the day before the first game of their ban. That places huge pressure on a fresh face coming in, and this weekend, it was Jaden Brown for the Owls.

Brown, a former Spurs trainee, has found his chances limited at Hillsborough. He made 11 appearances in the league last season but had just two going into the Charlton game, one of which was for seven minutes of a 5-0 victory against Forest Green Rovers.

Brown played left wing-back for 63 minutes of the victory and put himself about well. He’s likely to face Peterborough and Portsmouth in the next two matches, and despite his lack of games, it seems Sheff Weds fans were happy with the 24-year-old’s outing, as their Twitter reaction reveals.
