Wild Demands More From His Barrow Side

Barrow manager Pete Wild has demanded his side show drive and determination as they take on Bradford City this weekend.

The Bluebirds have been a surprise to many this season, however, have struggled with form, with just one win in their last 12 games.

The side are still searching for their first win of 2023, scoring five goals in eight games and conceding a total of 12 goals along the way.

Their opponents Bradford sit in eighth in the league unbeaten in their last five, picking up just two wins in that run, scoring five and conceding three.

Barrow took three points in the previous fixture against the Bantams, with Josh Gordon scoring the winner in the 96th minute, back in August in a thrilling encounter which finished 3-2.

21-year-old Jake Young joined Bradford in the summer, a player which Wild was after. Since then, he made the switch to Barrow on loan. Young was on the scoresheet in the August fixture. This performance was noted by the Bluebirds’ boss as the player made his loan move to the club.

Wild said he hopes the reverse fixture can inspire more drive and determination in his side, as they look to turn their fortunes around.

“That drive, that determination, that never say die attitude, that is what I want to see and hopefully we see lots of that on Saturday.”

Barrow are a side capable of pulling off a shock, as they have proven many times this season, especially in the reverse fixture, snatching victory when it looked moments before like victory had been snatched from them.

However, this poor run of form means that drive and determination might not be enough as they come up against Mark Hughes’ Bradford side in impressive form while Barrow are still seeking to turn their fortunes around, it is going to be a tough ask for them this weekend, one that it seems unlikely they will accomplish.
