Lincoln City have been dealt a blow as Dutch defender Lewis Montsma has been suspended for three games, as confirmed by BBC Sport Lincolnshire.
Montsma was involved in an incident last weekend as the Imps saw off Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers side. The defender was spotted throwing an elbow by Barton, the incident was not spotted by match officials on the day but has since been reviewed and the 24-year-old has received his suspension.
Barton took to Twitter to highlight the incident, as well as complain about the level of officiating on the day, as he complained about other decisions his side received during the day.

The suspension comes at a bad time for the Imps, giving them their second in the team as forward Ben House received a red card in Tuesday’s draw with Derby County.
Montsma has not long returned to the Lincoln starting lineup, having made just three appearances this season, after missing a year through an ACL injury.

The suspensions are a huge blow to the side, they are currently on a run of form having only lost one game since the turn of the new year, and come into a Portsmouth side, who are looking to turn their form around after falling off during the end of Danny Cowley’s time with the South Coast club.
It makes things slightly more difficult for the Imps, but Portsmouth are still adjusting to life under a new manager, so it is most likely they avoid defeat to them, but the two suspensions make a draw the most likely outcome from this weekend’s fixture.
Lincoln fans, how do you think this affects your sides chances this weekend?
