Northampton Town Boss Fears Worst Over Injury

Northampton Town boss John Brady fears the worst over Ben Fox’s injury bemoaning his sides luck with injuries according to the Northampton Chronicle

It was a frustrating night for Jon Brady and his men as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home against 13th place Wimbledon, which prevented Northampton from moving in to the automatic promotion places.

However with already having Aaron McGowan, Lee Burge, Kieron Bowie, Akin Odimayo, Ryan Haynes and Danny Hylton, it looks like it was about to get worse for the Cobblers, with Shaun McWilliams and Ben Fox both being forced off. Which takes the tally of injuries up to eight and leaves Jon Brady even shorter for depth, which isn’t ideal in a promotion race.

When asked about Ben Fox after the game Brady said “”What a block it was but unfortunately it could be a big injury. I hope not because he’s been magnificent.”

The former Grimsby man who has suffered with injuries frequently this season has struggled with his hamstring, knee and now ankle. He and the club will hope it’s not as serious as it first looked and he can return to the team and help them launch their bid for promotion.

The injury happened when Fox made an exceptional block inside the box. However, once he made the block, he required treatment to his ankle and although he tried to carry on; he was forced off minutes later.

It could prove to be a massive blow for Northampton, as Ben Fox has been an important presence for the Cobblers and could see a lengthy spell on the touchline should Brady’s fears be confirmed.

The disappointed boss also shared his thoughts on the club’s overall injury situation:

”We are getting injury after injury at the moment,”

“I haven’t spoken to the medical staff yet. We will see over the rest of the week with the others. Since Saturday my focus has just been on the group and preparing for Wimbledon.

“Aaron is pretty close and Burgey is just behind him but (Tom) Kingy has been doing really well for us, although I don’t think he had a serious shot to save on Tuesday.”

Northampton are pushing for promotion and if it is to be a long term injury for Fox it could certainly prove costly in how Northampton finish the season.

With Morgan Fox and Shaun McWilliams joining what seems to be a never ending injury list it leaves the Cobblers short in that position for sure.
