Bolton Wanderers have completed the loan signing of 19-year-old defender Luke Mbete on loan from Manchester City.
Mbete had been on loan with Championship outfit Huddersfield Town for the first half of this season, but has not featured much for the Terriers.
The defender has only featured eight times in this campaign for the club, and Manchester City today made the decision to recall him and send him on loan again to Bolton.
He made his senior debut for the club in September 2021, in a third round Carabao Cup fixture against Wycombe Wanderers which City won 6-1. As well as this, he came off the bench in a 4-1 victory over Swindon Town in the FA Cup in January 2022. He has been with Manchester City for a considerable amount of time, joining at under-12 level.

Having featured so little for Huddersfield this season, it was clear that City had to recall their player and see if they could get another loan spell for him where he could feature more often. The step down to League One could improve Mbete’s confidence, if a Championship club has deemed him not good enough to feature regularly for them.
For Bolton, they get another player who can fit into their back line, they already have added Premier League experience to their ranks, signing Shola Shoretire from the red side of Manchester earlier this month. And Mbete has a vast amount of experience starting games for his age, being a mainstay in City’s PL2 team playing 30 games for the side.
Bolton fans, excited to see Mbete join?
